On the old road called "Via VInaria" (the wine roar), within the town district of Montecarlo, our winery has been producing since 1978. Very little time considering the fact that in this area wine has been produced for many centuries. A note was found dated from the 13teen century: ....e peche ttu sia bene servito di un perfetto e buono vino ho scritto ad Arrigo Dipintore per aver quello squisito Montechiari di Montecarlo ch'è in quello di Luccha... ... if you need to be well treated you need to drink a good class of wine of the Montechiari Estate in the Montecarlo Town near Lucca. In the vineyard as well as in the cellar we work with no compromises under the wine consultancy of Stefano Chioccioli so we can produce very high quality wines. The Montechiari estate is located on the summit of a hill within the town district of Montecarlo. In the nearby surrounding, our vineyards are spread over almost 66 acres; 25 acres of vineyards are divided into small plots to take advantage of the sheen and the opulence of the grounds. These alluviums soils are very distinctive and specific and represent a "speciality" of our hills as a conductor; the link between our different wines with an unrivalled imprint of the soil.

The French grape varieties have always been an integral part of the tradition of Montecarlo, and it is why we have decided to reintroduce them with the sole intention of producing innovating wines such as Chardonnay, Semillon, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Merlot, which now are cultivated together with the Tuscan noble grape the "Sangiovese Grosso". This altogether with a final goal: the quality of these grapes. Our cellars are located at the centre of the Estate, under our mansion; The only reason being is to have an extensive control on all the different steps of the vinification processes and the ripening of our wines.
After a meticulous selection, grapes are gently crushed and then left to ferment in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. After the fermentation has slowly finished, the new young wine is then left to mature into small French oak barrels, some of which are selected for their different size depending of the type of wine and the native character of the grape variety.
The Chardonnay will remain in oak for a period of 6 months. The ageing process for our red wine will instead take more time; this time in much smaller oak cask , the typical French "Barriques" and can take up to 16 months. The malolactic fermentation will also be induced during these maturing periods and normally will end inside the casks.
The final period of ageing for all of our wines takes place in the bottle . ( usually between 8 to 12 months before release.)
In the vineyards as much in the cellars, all works are carried out with the consultancy of Stefano Chioccioli, one of the most acclaimed Tuscan oenologist..
